Scholarship WEBsites

The individual colleges to which you apply will be the best sources of scholarship opportunities for most students. Work closely with the financial aid offices at those schools. Your FAFSA should be filed as soon as possible after Jan. 1 of your senior year.

Local scholarships are available in April of the senior year, and can be accessed by completing the "Local Scholarship" application available in the guidance office at that time.

To further help you with your scholarship search, here is a list if FREE scholarship websites:

For all Students and Parents:

Start planning for college now! Students should sign up now at www.wellsfargo.com/collegesteps. Students will receive electronic postcards detailing vital college preparatory information such as taking the SAT/ACT, searching for scholarships, saving for college and more. During the senior year there are also $1,000.00 tuition scholarships given out by Wells Fargo Education Financial Services. This is a good resource to begin planning and organizing the process.

Writing Test from ACT?

Starting with the class of 2006 students should take the writing test of the ACT. For some schools it is not required, for some it is required and for some it is recommended. To be on the safe side unless a student knows exactly where he/she is applying, he/she should take the ACT writing test. Here are some examples of some of our most popular schools: YSU - ACT writing is not required, OU - required, OSU - required, KSU - recommended, Miami - required. Check on each school to which you will be applying.
